iJustine.
iJustine rose to internet fame with a simple web series she started up starring herself. She simply films short clips of her day to day routine, the show is basically a live documentary on her life but she has become so natural with the camera it almost feels as if she is talking directly to the audience.

iJustine mainly uses an iSight camera or webcam device for her videos, however when she attends events or takes a camera outside she uses predominantly mid shots of her surroundings with some close ups on points of interest with a commentary, she is occasionally filmed from 3rd person when she is participating in something to capture her reactions.
Similar to the Life of Lock out V Log iJustine uses very attractive fonts and graphics and mellow background music corresponding to her moods. She also has her own theme tune which works well in her case.
I feel this style of V Logging would suit me best as the subject matter would be similar. I however need to find my own style of music and fonts to suit my persona.

Alive in Baghdad.
“Alive in Baghdad employs Iraqi journalists to produce video packages each week about a variety of topics on daily life in Iraq. Through the work of a team of Americans and Iraqi correspondents on the ground, Alive in Baghdad shows the conflict through the voices of Iraqis. Alive in Baghdad brings testimonies from individual Iraqis, footage of daily life in Iraq, and short news segments from Iraq to you.”
Life of Lock out.
I began my research into video logging by taking a look at the critically acclaimed V log series, ‘Life of Lock Out’. It’s a short series taking a look at the life of Sione Pouha, a New York Jets football player during a period known as Lock out. A lock out period is one in which employees are excluded from their place of work until certain terms are agreed to, as expected this is a hard time for football players as they have a lot more spare time on their hands than before and struggle to spend time with team mates and find motivation to train.
This V log is very simply filmed, it includes basic mid-shots of Pouha training, cooking etc alongside close-ups and extreme close ups on him whilst he talks about emotional and relevant subjects. The majority of the work that’s gone into this video has been in the edit. With varying colour scales, neat font work and an eclectic soundtrack the video is very attractive. I believe this works, as the subject matter is so simple the edit keeps the viewer interested and sets the mood. I will use similar techniques when editing my V log, however as I shall be shooting from first person the overall feel of the video should be more personal and instead of seeing Pouha in the cut-aways I will be filming what I see, rather than do.
